Provencal drum

The Provençal drum is a cylindrical, long and narrow percussion instrument, traditionally made of wood and with animal skin patches at both ends. It is played with a single drumstick, as it is usually accompanied by the galoubet, a small three-hole flute that is played with only one hand. This drum is used in the folk music of Provence, especially in traditional dances and celebrations. The musician, known as a tambourinaire, is usually a solo performer who simultaneously plays the galoubet with one hand and the drum with the other.
